Sentricon Always Active Termite Control

The reason the Sentricon Always Active termite control system works all comes down to termite biology, as well as the hierarchical system in which they live.

Subterranean termites are social creatures living in a highly organised caste system in an underground colony. A colony can be comprised of anywhere from a few thousand to millions of termites.

How does Sentricon Always Active termite control work?

Each termite has a specific role, with the workers bearing responsibility for feeding the rest of the colony, as the other termites can’t feed themselves. Workers forage for food constantly by building tunnels and mud-tubes off of the colony.

Worker termites will build dozens of tunnels to maximise their chance of finding food. And, naturally, they will find the Sentricon In-Ground Stations.

Once termites are detected, Sentricon II Termite Bait is placed in the active stations. Research has shown that termites find the bait highly palatable.

As worker termites feed on the bait material, they transfer the patented active ingredient (Hexaflumuron) throughout the entire colony via a process known as ‘trophallaxis’. Because termites can’t detect Hexaflumuron, they continue feeding on the bait until it’s gone.

When ingested, Hexaflumuron prevents the workers from moulting. When they can’t moult, they die. And since dead termites can’t feed their colony, their colony dies, too.

The Sentricon Always Active In-Ground Station has been scientifically proven as an effective means of providing homeowners (and their M&M Pest Control Technicians!) with a window into the world of a termite colony.

Easily installed in strategic positions around the perimeter of your home or building, Sentricon In-Ground Stations provide the opportunity to monitor for and detect termite activity before they cause extensive damage to your home.

Plus, the Sentricon system is more environmentally sound and less of an aggravation than traditional liquid chemical treatments. It requires:

  • No drilling in floors and foundations
  • No digging or trenching
  • No chemical solution injected in the ground under and around a home
  • No tank trucks of chemical solution
  • No scheduling hassles

So, call us at M&M to discuss Sentricon for your property.

Then, every time you see one of those green stations, take comfort knowing that Sentricon Always Active is working 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, to provide effective management and control of termites before they make a meal of your home.
